Lia reviewed Maurice by E. M. Forster
Comfortably Unremarkable for a 1914 Gay Romance

I read this book concurrently with A Room with a View, which in comparison differs quite a bit in mood. While ARwaV is fun, light-hearted and comical, Maurice is tougher. I found the parts of Maurice's depression the toughest to get through. Forster writes beautifully, and you can tell that he's trying his best. I wish he could have brought some of the joy in ARwaV into it. I found the best part to be the note at the end of the text where Forster explains some of his thinking. Sweet guy!
